Wireless internet for my laptop so slow?
Answers:
your phone modem is never going to be close to your cable modem. it's like trying to stuff a basketball through a drinking straw with your phone, and the same basketball going through a sewer pipe with cable. your phone modem is useful when your in spots that don't have wifi available, but don't expect the same speed from it than when your at home. it all depends on whether you want to spend that extra money on a service that you don't plan on using everyday. if you need it for work or school, then i'd say keep it, but if its just to check email and surf, i don't think it's worth it at all.
wireless adapters are supposed to be slow, theyre wireless, not too slow, what is your isp (internet service provider,) and what kind of internet are you using, if its dialup, its no surprise , some of the best adapters are linksys adapaters.
tell me this, right click your wireless connection (its in the toolbar in the bottom right if its active) and go to status, tell me how much is recieveing and how much is sending, and in what form (bytes or packets)
It's like a cell service. If you use your laptop in remote areas then it is worth it. If your using it mostly at home or work then definitely not.
Verizon has been known to do that, but if you're paying 60 bucks a month it's not worth it. Go back to cable and pay 60 bucks and you'll see the difference trust me. I have wireless modem also and my speeds are very fast. It might also be your router it might be messing up or you need the new firmware for it.
Maybe you are in a bad location that has a hard time receiving data. My friend has that problem, but he lived on a mountain somewhere. But when he would go down from the mountain and into the downtown area, he's speeds are blazing fast. See if that's the problem and then decide if you want to keep it or not.
