Battery symbol on a laptop?

Its not the lead as we have just bought a new one, but the battery level (in the bottom right hand corner) keeps on popping up. I then have to keep fiddling with the wire to get it charging again, then if i move it shows up again, does anyone know how to fix it as it is really bugging me. Cos if i leave it the computer shuts down!!

Maybe the power connector on the main circuit board has got a dry joint, and has become loose. You would have to get an electronics or computer expert to look at it to know exactly.
okay first of all, you should right click your computer home page ( the page when your computer first starts up) click properties and click screensaver and make the time longer, so that your computer dont randomly have to go "screensaver mode." On my laptop, when i am not charging it, the battery symbol is there, meaning i'm using the battery power, if i am charging it, there is a thunder sign over it, meaning its charging. Make sure your charger is fully connected ( meaning that there can be two parts to a charger).
