How can I reduce notebook keybaord temperature?

I have a Dell Latitude D820 and a IBM X60. Both notebook keyboards get unbearably hot, even with a $30 notebook cooling fan that is made of aluminum that has a raised bottom.

I have looked at many notebook coolers, but all of them have about the same fan rpm. I don't mind the fan being loud. I just need a notebook cooling fan that could make the entire keyboard surface cool, so I can type without burning my hands!

Any solutions to my problem? Any notebook cooling fan you recommend? Thanks.

P.S. Are notebooks hotter with AC or battery?

Answers:
well .. if u turn the power options for cpu down it will cool it some, thats what generally happens when u go to battery is the cpu kicks into a power saving mode .. just configure that on ac ... if its an older laptop like older thana few months maybe get some compressed air and blow out the vents really well .. it may be partially blocked internally with dust causing the heat to rise out of the keyboard ...
Almost all notebook fans are the same but

FOR SURE:

notebooks are hotter with AC (tested)
I saw a cooling pad for notebooks at wal mart a few nights ago might be worth a try. it sits under your note book.
