HP Notebook or Macbook?

Should I get:
a HP notebook with 4GB RAM, 200GB Hard Drive, 1.5 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, SuperMulti-drive, Wireless, Vista Ultimate, and Fingerprint reader, for $1494.98,
or:
a Macbook with 1GB RAM, 120GB Hard Drive, SuperDrive, 2.16 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, iWorks for $1,329.12.
For Computer Science/International Baccaulaureate in High School? The Macbook is sleek, powerful, and inexpensive. But the HP has a HUGE amount of storage. Also, The rest of my entire family use Windows, so will I have any trouble communicating with our other computers if I choose the Mac?

Answers:
By 'communicating with our other computers', I assume you mean copying files, like jpeg or mp3. For small amount of files, you can easily move files around with a 1GB USB memory key for $50 or less. If you don't have one, you can attach the file from the Mac to an email and mail it to the someone who then reads the mail on a PC and detach the file. Both PCs and Macs have USB slots.

If your parents take a lot of pictures with digital cameras and your brothers/sisters download a lot of musics, you family probably own an external USB hard-drive, which can also be used to move a huge amount of files between PC and Macs. Just treat the USB drive like a USB memory key. If your family doesn't own one, it's a worthwhile investment as a place to back up family pictures or valuable MP3 collections.

So communication between PC and Mac should not be a concern.

having used macs for 17 yrs, I vote macbook. ;)

use to be macs were not compatible with pc's running windows... not true anymore. you can even run windows and windows apps on the mac if you have too...
well macs are less prone to most viruses etc that are out b/c most are geared towards pcs, though everyone, well most use pcs so you might have to reconfigure things to a mac if you had, ie class notes etc when in college, also ive heard macs are really used for graphics and design sort of things but not sure. ive never had a mac, though ive heard good things about them, it really all depends on what youre going to do with it, how long you plan to have it etc. i would go with the hp only because for the money youd have a lot more memory hd space etc and so could store more music/picts/files etc and then use at university.
I would go with an Asus for the same price.
You can get one from newegg with a 8400gt anf 160gb hdd, with a 2ghz core 2 duo for the same price.
Oh, and all Asus laptops come with a free 2 year parts and labor warranty.
This is from PC magazine, from a recent column by John C. Dvorak: "I can see why the Mac is gaining market share, because the rationale for using one is simple. Do you want to deal with the agony of antivirus, firewall, antispyware, and other touchy software subsystems, many of which do not work well? Or do you want to boot Microsoft Word and write a document and be done with it?"

Your Mac will work fine with other Windows computers.
