hi there.. i have owned quite a few laptops over time i have tried Sony, Hp, Nec, Toshiba, Mac, Acer, Dell etc.. to tell u the truth Hp is the best.. the others are ver good also but no matter what you do dont ever buy a dell laptop.. its d worst trust me. i fix computers for a living
Personly I like HP/compaq, Sony, and Toshiba. NOT a dell or acer. Both have bad customer support and their laptops "self Destruct" or just get slower and slower until they don't work anymore.

i repair computers
compact has less problems
and you get more software etc

The only laptop I've owned is an HP. The computer is great, but the customer service sucks. I had to speak with six different people for the same problem and it still hasn't been solved. My boyfriend has had a Dell for about two years and he's had no problems with it.
