P.S. just re-install windows xp on the new notebook.
the speed will be limited, so don't even bother with that. The memory can be upgraded, which will help run a little smoother. U can get a larger HD, for storage, which will be good for your music/pics.
not sure you have the numbers right, but a local tech can tell you if there is room for upgrades. music and pics, dont require a lot of power.
i say get a new laptop its more work making it faster then just getting a new one they aren't that expensive anymore check out slickdeals.net i found a DELL laptop for 500 bucks a good one 2.
If your memory is in MB, thats the slowest memory speed you have. The best computers out their right now are sony vaio's. Any series has the latest Windows Vista program. Most of them have 100gb or more Hard drive, 1 gig or 2 gigs etc...oF ram for your choosing, with Xbrite LCD to give u clear quality. THeir features are great too they have a fingerprint scan that will allow only you to access your laptop, and some have the Blu-Ray disc burner and player drive (unlike APPLE!). Check their website out, it's www.sonystyle.com, and they have promotions too, such as trade in your old laptop to get credit towards a new one. Just remember however, apple aren't that great, their starting to become over rated and some applications don't work on pc, wich most companies, schools and other local business have PC programs. GOOD LUCK
Go to New Egg and get more RAM and get a bigger HD. Their site will tell you what fits and what the capacity is. Both are very low by todays standards.
