Number 1 Laptop?
Answers:
I have a compaq and it was $700. Alot of people say that sony and apple are the best on the market. If price is an issue and you're only using it for everyday work I would recommend a HP, toshiba, compaq, or dell. They all make good laptops at reasonable prices some below $800.
I would look at a Dell Inspiron 1501. Here is what I think you should have on it for your needs.
RAM:1 GB
Hard Drive:80 GB
Operating System: XP (Vista is too slow)
If you are comfortable with a mac or interested in switching, the MacBook does what you want beautifully. It's really a great machine. Macs couldn't be easier to use, within 2 hours of using it you'll realize its far superior to any other windows based laptop. Have fun!
Dells are the way to go because you can built your own laptop to fit your needs. Plus they have a great warranty!
Well for your price range a dell is best but the Sony Vaio computer is really good too, but they are expensive.
I like the HP Pavilions. They have a variety of different models that can accomodate your price range. I have one now and they last long. Whatever you do, don't get vista...not worth it.
HP is number 1 laptop brand. Everyone goes for HP laptops now. I like the smoothness of mouse pad and the keys. Great support.
Dont go for Dell. Why buy kia when honda is around.
Dell 1420 would be a good choice in that price range.
If you want to save some bucks and do not mind a black case, the Dell small business version of the 1520 is on sale;
