Whats so great about the MacBook??
Answers:
I'm on a Macbook Pro right now and have had it for about a year and two weeks now. Honestly, it is the greatest computer I have ever had and have ever worked with. On Mac OS X I have had no problems whatsoever, the software that comes built in is extremely helpful and fun to use, and the hardware is very good. You can also run Windows on any of the new Intel based Macs.
The only complaints I have are how the computer itself can get so hot, the short battery life, and the power cord frying. Since the Macbook is so thin (I love it that way!) and is running a powerful processor you'll notice that the computer can get very hot. Then the battery, I've found that it will run for at most three hours when running the bare minimum of programs and at least an hour when running many programs (most of the ones I run are pretty heavy, though). Then finally we come to the power cord frying. I don't think you'll hear about this much, but one downside of the MagSafe cord is that it will most likely burn out (literally) at some point right around the magnetic part. Mine literally smoked, but I think some of my cats hair had gotten stuck on an exposed wire as the cord short circuited.
On the other hand, Apple's tech support and repair service is top notch. When I broke several of the keys on my laptop's keyboard I brought the laptop to the SoHo, NYC Apple Store to be fixed. Just six hours later the entire top of the laptop case, including the keyboard and mouse, had been replaced, all on warranty.
So my final word is this: Get that damn laptop!
Nothing is overly great about the Macbook. They're the same thing, but different OS... If you like OSX, then you would also like the apple Macbook. If you like Vista OS, you would love the windows based laptops.
The Apple computers get hot just like any windoiws based system, they crash just the same, but less. They catch viruses just the same, but less. They are great just the same, but less.
It all comes down to the OS. If you like the OS, then choose the system that supports that OS... Macbook now supports two OS's at once, so you may be much happier with a Macbook. Try one. Why not try something new?
