Why does my laptop act like this?

I noticed recently that when I resume my laptop from hibernation, I can't browse the internet through my wi-fi router. According to my wireless network connections, I am connected to my router, but the web page will not load. I've had to restart my laptop to get it back to normal. Any suggestions?

Answers:
Yes, and the suggestion would be to disable hibernation as SOON as possible, it is HORRIBLE for your system.
you can also try and "repair" your wifi connection. right click on the network icon in the system tray, then click repair. does help me.
It is pretty normal. All you need to do now is right right click on your Wi Fi connection and select repair. Nothing is wrong with your system. And a virus or spyware does not cause this problem. You can trust me because I know what I am talking about. Do not worry, for I have the same problem.

The problem is that not all the time your Internet connection is restored after coming out of hybernation mode. The memory is lacked and needs to be refreshed.

I hope this helps.
Hibernation is the greatest feature microsoft ever had, at least for those who understand what Hibernation does.

When you start up or restart your system, it takes quite some time to ready the system. While all that lengthy activities are going on, XP would already have completed negotiation with the wireless hub and with your service provider and, therfore, your wireless connection is ready to use "immediately".

While your system is running and you disabled your wireless connection, wait for five minutes before re-enabling it, the wireless hub would have registered that you have lost connection with it. After that, your ISP provider DHCP registry would remove your PC from its connected list. Signal routing equipment depends on your PC to respond to "are you there?" queries.

Similarly, when you put your PC on hibernate, all "are you there?" queries are obviously ignored.

Very often DSL companies would provide you with only one IP address and you have to insert a router to connect more than one PC to the service provider. Therefore, there could also be issues with the setup of your router and it fails to keep the connection alive while there is absence of network activity. If I am the service provider I would have an algorithm that would aggressively seek out absence of activity patterns regardless of how your router responds. Paying only $12.99 a month comes at a price.

When you dehibernate your PC, it has to restart all the connections negotiations. Even when your wireless hub/router is connected, the service provider might have run out of addresses and is searching for connections to kill.

This is an internet technology issue, not a "hibernation" issue.

For USB wireless adaptors, reconnection negotiations may be problematic if the author of the USB driver is sloppy. Sometimes, XP seems to forget that a certain USB device existed and is plugged in after dehibernation and it won't reconnect even after a long time until you perform a "Repair Connection". A fault not due to XP or its dehibernation activities. As far as I have experienced, I try my best to avoid using USB wireless adaptors - at least the cheap ones.

I personally feel that there are badly written drivers even for non-USB wireless adaptors but not as frequent as USB ones.
