Which of these two laptops would you recommend and why?

the first one, newer processor which is faster. however they may not be the best for you, what do you want it for? you pay for £100 + for a laptop saying Sony. decide the spec you want then shop around. acer are good value, although not always reliable (had mine 4 years though) HP are reasonably priced and fairly reliable, Toshiba - not too keen on those. Sony expensive, Compaq same brand as HP. median, cheap, Packard bell, PC world and Curry's own brand. hope that helps
The first one. The processor is better. Otherwise both are the same. They both are weak, but they will do.
the first one the one that has 1.73ghz its faster than 1.60ghz
The first one because the processor is better = faster, more future proof. Personally I would go for a laptop from Comet as they are better value for money and have better specs. Sony's are always way over priced.
