Can I fix a broken mousepad on my notebook?
I have an Acer TravelMate 636CLi. Recently, I accidentely spilled coffee over mijn keyboard and mousepad.
I already replaced the keyboard, that one's easy. But my (integrated) mousepad is also broken, yet I cannot find a (web)store where I can buy one of those. Neither can I see how I could possibly replace that. The keyboard was 3 clicks and it was in, but I cannot see a similair system for the mousepad.
Can anyone help me? I kinda need this notebook for my university.
Thanks and all the usual greetings

What you refer to as a mouse-pad on your notebook is an entirely electrical pointing device.
If you've spilled liquid on this, it more than likely shorted it out and you will not be able to do anything about it. This is not a field-replaceable-unit (FRU). Acer won't guarantee you that they can repair this problem, since it's likely other circuits were fried, too, but they're the ones you'll have to talk to.
Keep liquids away from your computer. You know better!
An email to Acer should either get you a new one under warranty, or allow you to purchase one from them for a small price. Hope this helps.
You need to get on the Acer web site and look for the mouse pad replacement from the web site. If you had accidental full coverage insurance. Then you need to RMA the mousepad you have now to get a new one.
It will not be as easy as replacing your keyboard there is one main wire that connects to your motherboard it is usually encased in white make sure you are very careful with that and that the one you plug back in is secure before you put the motherboard back together.
My advice would be to either search the internet for some how to's or go to your local computer store and have them do it. It will not be as easy as you may think trust me.
