Is 1014mb ram enough to run windows vista? I have been having problems with my dell freezing & being slow?

Answers:
Could be a problem with device drivers , hardware or software . This problem can be solved by uninstalling new softwares, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html...
look at the required system requirements for Windows Vista and then look at the recommended reqs for it. Always pay more attention to the recommended reqs. Also, you might want to turn off some features to speed up computer.
It is depending on you video card and processor
Vista employs many visual effects. It has been getting a bad rap since it's release because it requires alot of hardware. To run vista well it would require 2048mb (2gigs) or so. I recommend 4096mb (4gigs) and a powerful graphics card
its enough for basic vista but not for vista aero glass effect. vista uses alot of ram. i have 2 gig.ram and it works well. you also need a good video card for vista.
congrats on your marriage!
yeah, buy why would you want to run this shi t program...stick with XP
More commonly referred to as 1GB of RAM, yes it should be enough to run Vista. Be aware of bloatware on a new laptop or PC that can consume system resources and bogg down your computer.

You can stop some of these services from starting by either removing them from add/remove programs located in the control panel

or

go to the start menu, run, type msconfig.exe, go to the startup services tab and uncheck anything that you dont use. you will have to restart your computer afterwards.
Dear friend!
For wondows vista ur system requirements are 1 gb ram and 3 ghz processor. U already have 1 gb ram that is sufficient for ur dell. First check ur processor. IS it 3 ghz? If it is, then there might be some problems in installation of vista. Reinstall the windows vista. Check this. If problem remains, then, I would like to suggest u visit dell service centre. Don;t try R& D on ur laptop.
It Depends on the version of Vista you have.

Support for DirectX 9 graphics with:

No these are the basic set for the different versions. More Ram may be used if you have the other goodies activated. You could download the Vista Upgrade Advisor to get a better idea of how much ram is needed. Also don't forget, if you have just the minimal running, then that much ram is being subtracted from that 1014Mb you have. Plus any extras like firewalls or anti-virus can slow you down too.
You had better get 2 gb ram
