Is the Sprint built-in mobile broadband (EV-DO Rev A) for a dell needed?

I am planning on using my palm treo 755p as modem on the go. Will the sprint mobile broadband be neccesary in my laptop. Would it make my internet connection run faster or anything?

Answers:
You can use your Treo as a modem by tethering it to your laptop and adding the $39.99 attachment to your existing phone plan for unlimited data/web surfing. The Treo 755p is EVDO so the speeds will be sufficient. If you want to keep your line separate, you can call to activate the embedded connection card from your Dell computer but that would cost you $59.99 and be considered a second line on your account. There is a $39.99 plan for the embedded connection card but for only 40MB of data transfer which one can easily use up in one day, then you will be charged on a per KB basis.
Will it be necessary, depends on what you will be doing. If presentation or database update information is need for files stored on the computer it can be a good tool. Will it make the connection faster, depends on where you are and what level of update the local network has. If it is 3G then it is up to 2M connection.
