this site tells you all about the comparisons of all the vistas as you can see, ultimate includes everything, but it does cost much more
Ask for XP instead - not only will it be cheaper, but you'll have the better performance.
Remember, Vista's specs state it need 1gb of RAM, yet computers are selling with Vista installed, and only 512mb.
Vista simply wasn't designed for the average home computer.
Mind you.. no computer will correct its bugs, or driver problems!
Have a good think about it.
if you have the money go for ultimate or business, has some extra "security" features, but really i would just get home premium, and harden the operating system to lock down all the services i dont use
if you're into the looks of vista such as the the Aero theme (with the glass windows and 3D Alt-Tab view), then Home Premium suffices. But note that this Aero is a MASSIVE drain on battery power
No matter how you use your PC—from home entertainment to business productivity—there's an edition of Windows Vista that's right for you. Use this comparison table to help you choose your edition.

I'm running Vista Home Premium and all I can say is that is ""Vista is not ready for prime time"", that is don't get Vista till service pack 1 is released because there are some things that really need to be fixed..My main complaint (there are others but this is a rather annoying problem)..copying / moving/ deleting files. I'm not going into what that means because the article at the link following explains it much better that I could.

Home premium would be fine for a home user u do not need to have Business or Ultimate but with Vista still most of the software doesnt support for it as well as some problem with it, but It looks great as long as you have a high performance PC.
Vista doesn't work thats why they are selling it they know you will keep going back to them when nothing works get xp instead.
