Best Laptop?
I'm looking for a laptop. I won't be using alot of graphics or multi media-except itunes.
I will be using micro-office...
What are some good brands for this basic kind of use?
NOT DELL...any other advice would be welcomed..thanks

HP is number one in LT sales. HP6500 is their 15.4 in mainline model. Very popular, with good reviews.
Another good choice would be the Lenovo (IBM)T161, great for business.

Check Consumer Reports, at www.consumerreports.com. They top rate the MacBook Pro.
Compaq has a nice notebook, with plenty of memory, ms office, windows vista premeuim and its only 449.99 at bestbuy
I typically recommend that consumers do not purchase laptops from retail stores. Your best bet is to go to the website of the brand you are looking for, and go to the BUSINESS section. I feel that the laptops sold to businesses are more reliable and built better. They usually have better warranties too. I like HP, Compaq, and Toshiba laptops.
You can try HP ( they don't really look cheap like the Dell ones)
Toshiba is also pretty good. (with these, you can get pretty good specs under $1000)
Sony or MacBook if you want to spend more the $1000
I am also currently looking for a laptop so I did some research, and I personally am leaning towards HP. I like its webcam, DVD writer with the lasar labling, and looks really nice( i think its prettier than toshiab) ! the only down side was the battery life is really average. For HP there are sales at amazon, costco and circuit city right now. (you can get a really good one like dual core 1.8gHz, 2Gb RAM, 160GB hard drive with all the DVD webcame stuff in the $700s, if you don't might a bit slower, but still way enough for basic tasks , probably can find a deal for around $600
Macbook is very reliable, and is a bit more costly and looks cool, is a bit lighter
Yes, I agree with you. Dell is not good for my experience. I will suggest you to buy Acer or HP. They don't cost you a lot and the configuration is good though.
