My niece is going to college and she needs a computer should I get her a laptop or notebook computer?
Answers:
I'm going to assume that by notebook you mean desktop. I hope I'm not wrong in that.
Laptops are awesome for college students. It allows them to take notes quickly and comfortably during class and allow for really easy search and find functions when reviewing their notes. However, you need to ask her what all she'll be using it for. Personally, I used my computer for a lot more when I was at college (Gaming, programming, watching TV, etc.). For those types of things, a laptop that would be powerful enough gets VERY expensive very quickly. Desktops have the distinct advantage there.
I went my whole college career with only a desktop in my room, and the old fashioned pen and paper in the classrooms and did just fine. However, I do see that a laptop would have been a really nice luxury.
In short, find out what she wants a computer for. If it will mainly be used for taking notes and instant messaging, spring for the laptop. It'll be more convenient, but if she wants a graphics card, a bunch of memory and a ton of storage for games/videos/music, it may be a lot more economical to get a good desktop.
Laptop! They are super! I live in a house with a computer and a laptop the laptop is so much better and quicker! And they were the same price!
Get her a laptop. It'll have more uses in the long run.
Well, make sure she doesn't already have one first.
While laptops/notebooks are quite convenient they get damaged, lost and stolen much more frequently than desktops which stay put inside a room.
Do you mean a laptop or a desktop computer?
Because there is no much difference between a laptop and a notebook
A laptop and a notebook are one in the same. No difference, just a different name.
I also say a laptop.
laptop and notebook are the same thing or are you referring to desktop or labtop
A notebook is the same as a laptop, but if you meant to say if I should get her a laptop or desktop, then you should get her a laptop for school because laptops are portable and convenient.
I would go with one of the new Dell Inspiron Laptops. You will get the most bang for your buck. For $799.00, you get 2gigs or RAM, a 120gig hard drive, and a dual core proccesor. I would opt for the 14.1in screen with true view, over the 15.1, just because its a little nicer to carry around and you won't really notice a difference.
