I like Sony and HP, i think they r great coz they come out with such fantastic ideas of designs and there performence is awesome!
Not HP, I just bought a new laptop 30 days ago and it's already off to repair!
Dell. Gateway. Toshiba. IBM. ASUS.
depends on your needs.
quality = apple, ibm (i own 5 macs and will never switch back)
cheap = dell, hp, toshiba (i would never buy any of these)
so-so = sony (bad batteries)
All branded laptops are good but it depend on what type of application u runs on ur system.then i can suggest u laptop model.

Dell, i have a dell laptop and desktop, there so unbelievably cheap and so great i just love them they look great too, 1 gig ram dvd r/w 15 months mcafee wifi 1200x800 screen for only £400!
You might consider checking into acer laptops, they have very good equipment and reasonable pricing, their support isnt the greatest (but neither is dell/apple/hp ect)
If you want my opinion Sony makes the best laptops out there. The price is a little higher but I have one and it works better than any laptop I have ever had. You can see them by going to http://www.sonystyle.com.
I agree- No HP or Compaq, as they have horrid fan and exhaust location, weak speakers, fall apart easily, and the company considers poor design repairs 'cosmetic' like the paint wearing off the touchpad in the first month- even with the extended warranty. Furthermore, the USB port and power cord locations are generally non-intuitive (meaning you'll bump them constantly) and they seem weak enough to break off if you bump them when something is plugged in- wouldn't that ruin a machine right-quick-like!?!?
I have had good experiences with Dell- have bought at least 300 for work- and they are pretty good on warranty if you have trouble. The machines are robust enough to put up with regular use and porting them around, and they don't have dramatic design flaws...for the most part. There are exceptions to any rule. The 1501 has a REALLY hot battery burn, though, so be prepared to not buy that one if you intend to use it on your lap!

i like hp bcoz it is an branded company and it makes the best laptops.
hp has always been on the first place but now dell is fightin its way back....anyway i would suggest HP.
Toshiba makes the best laptops.
