I have HP-Pavillion dv 6000 and trying to install XP?
I wanted to install XP so i bought the FULL XP CD.(Not upgrade!)
anyways, when i run it in booting mode, it says that the harddrive cannot be found.
Somebody said that it's because my harddrive is SATA and that i have to go into CMOS and enable something.
I went to CMOS(one that says press F10 to enter setup) and looked for it, but couldn't find it.
My harddrive is- Fujitsu MHW 2080BH PL
Microsoft
6/12/2006
version 6.0.6000.16386
How do i enable this XP CD to detect my harddrive?
Answers:
Don't go back to XP, make Vista run like XP. you can turn off the Aero and Vista will run like a scalded dog.
in fact you can remove everything that makes Vista...Vista, it may ***** about it, but you can remove that to with some registry tweaking.
All said Vista sits there and looks at you using around 486MB of RAM, if you only have a Gig than it's slow. Buy some dual channel 2Gig sticks and take a second look at Vista.
why go back to an old os ? really change and use linux
in order to change back to XP you have to do a complete reformat on the HD which will take some time and y do you have vista? The only problems I have seen with it is that some programs don't work with it b/c the companies are dragging their feet to get their programs running on vista. I don't have it on my comp yt but I plan to put it on there soon. (even my jumpdrives which say they don't have the programs to run vista yt are running just fine on the PC's that do have Vista on it.
Boot up Vista like normal then after its loaded. Put the XP CD in and it should start up.
(IF NOT) Click on 'My Computer' and find the drive the CD is in and click on it. That should start the XP CD.
Hope you can make this work for you.
