It looks fine to me. The screen might be a little small but if you're going to be lugging it around the campus you don't want anything to bulky anyway. It's got 1GB of RAM so it should run Vista okay (Not that I'd use Vista) and it has a dual-core processor - good if you're running multiple applications.
The only thing you might want to think twice about is the weight - laptops get HEAVY very quickly!
Oh btw, make sure you back up all your work to disks or at least onto a flash drive.
take a pentium 4 core 2 duo.
try to make it worth windows vista...
as u hav to use it for a long time
thats a very good computer for your needs
yes, I am sure you will enjoy it.
First of all, stay away from AMD like the plague.
Secondly, I wouldn't recommend shopping at walmart - just customize a system on HP's website directly (http://www.hp.com). Eliminate the middle man.
HP has great deals on your price range right now. I quickly found a computer (look for V6000TX series) that is Intel based, fits your needs and is in the $600 range.
ACK! Thats a notebook! notebooks are satans spawn! unless you NEED the mobility, i would suggest buying a desktop, you can purchase one two or three times more powerful/useful, for around 600$! If your just going to be doing word apps and not hardcore usage such as graphic designing things or whatever, id just suggest buying a dell machine, theyre not top of the line, but they are really cheap and will serve your purpose well, they have some decent computers for only 300$, so thats even more money to waste on college things like ramen noodles by the bulk or whatever ticks your fancy :)
that configuration is great but i wouldn't recommend hp and amd.
buy Siemens with some Intel's processor (you get good warranty so don't worry)
anyway any computer will work your job
Not bad, got a better deal with a better CPU;
