Maybe you can buy Acer or HP which is chapter and good configuration. I used HP, Acer, Toshiba, IBM, ASUS and Dell laptop. I think Hp and Acer are good from my experience. The main think that you should not buy Dell laptop which is not good from my experience. Here is a link you can look at.
You should purchase a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092. I have one, and I love it. I would highly recommend it.
You will want a Core 2 Duo processor. 2GB of memory. The best graphics card.
I would buy a HP. They work very good and look cool. Look at the dv6500t.

dont buy a toshiba i had one and hated it, i would recomend a gateway convertible thats what i have and i love it, a hp with a built in webcam my mom has that one she uses it for all her needs, and if your into music, video,and photo editing then you would want to go with a mac my cuz has one for all his music needs and studies
