Wireless Internet?
Wireless-G Notebook Adapter. What exactly does that do? I am new at this whole wireless thing.
Answers:
The Wireless-G Notebook Adapter is for your notebook as it is named. It is inserted into the PCI slot in your notebook and enables your notebook to connect to the wireless network.
Probably you DON'T need it since most new notebooks come with wireless enabled already.
Thus, you should go and get the Linksys Wireless G router and connect it to your modem. and voila
The adapter is for computers/laptops that do not already have any onboard adapters. Say you have an old notebook and you want to make it wireless. You would purchase the Wireless-G notebook adapter and hook it in. Voila! Now your old notebook can be wireless. If your laptop is fairly new (2004+), it should already have the adapter installed.
I'm guessing it's an adapter that you plug into your laptop so that it can get the kind of service (wireless internet) you want...so it can pick up the signals in order for it to work.
the notebook adapter is designed 2 connect to the wireless network from a laptop. you need some kind of wireless card or adapter to connect to the network. i have the USB one, and it works fine on my PC as well
The notebook adapter is I think for laptops and such.
When you setup wireless you have to have two components, a wireless client and a wireless hub. Most new laptops already have the wireless client built-in but if you have an older laptop, you must add the wireless client, just like the wireless-G notebook adapter.
If you don't already have a wireless hub, you'll need to purchase one like the wireless-G router. Once you have both, you can use wireless.
If you dont have a wireless adapter allready installed in your computer (control panel/system/device manager/scroll to net work adapters/ it will be listed ; if its installed, as a wireless adapter. Cards and usb devices(usb is cheaper) are sold at computer retailer stores and on line ,Tiger Direct and Newegg.com(both are allmost 1/2 the cost. You should know that you still need the wireless router even with the wireless adapter to access your modem and internet service provider(isp) cable or phone line to modem/ cable from modem to wireless router/wireless router over air to wireless adapter. There are modems which are a modem, wired and wireless routers all in one .Usually cheaper than buying both. A 2- Wire (mfgr name) wireless modem is an example
