Which should I choose: A 160 GB Hard Drive @ 7200rpm or a 250 GB hard drive @ 4200 rpm?
Answers:
I agree with hacker (best choice) 160GB if you are a gamer, 250GB if you are not.
I suggest the 250 gb hard drive because you'd have more space
Besides 4200 rpm is more than enough
160 at 7200 RPM would be a faster choice.
Are you worried about speed/performance or less speed and more space?
If you are gaming, I would choose the 160 if I were you...if you were just going to use it to play some music and college/school then get the 250.
More space and less rpm.The slower drive will be more reliable and unless you are extreme gaming you probably won't notice the speed differential..
These are your choices:
speed
space & battery life
It all depends on which of those two are a bigger priority for you personally.
Only you can answer that question. If you're going to be storing a lot of movies and music, then the larger capacity is the way to go. If you're going to be using it more for business or educational purposes, then maybe the faster access time is more up your alley.
The hell of it is, super fast access times are really only beneficial for large files to begin with, since it takes a bit of time for the drive to get up to max speed. Ideally you'd want a drive with both large storage AND high RPMs, but that will really take a bite out of your wallet. Personally, I'd go with the large storage and lower RPM, because the few seconds difference will not really be noticable.
better get the fast one.. you will loose some speed in data transfer using the 250gb
Better Rpm, will you eveen need the extra 90 gb. Its pointles, i dont even use 60 gigs of my 640
id go with the bigger one since itll hold more storage and id also inncrease the memory 1 notch up
Better rpm, faster pc but more heat. What size of files are you going to use?
Nowadays they're coming with faster drives.
More space. rpm is just the speed..dun need so fast la
I'm guessing there's no way to get a 250 GB hard drive with 7200 RPM? If you're doing lots of video or working with lots of large files, you'll want the speed AND the volume. I just did a quick search on buy.com and newegg.com -both offer 250 GB @ 7200 RPM for $104 and $77, respectively. Either way, good luck!...
i say more space which is 250gb.
The higher the RPM, the faster the data can be read from the platters, which increases overall performance.
if you are thinking about storage capacity as well as performance better choice will be 160GB Harddrive
