My brand new laptop overheats, all while the fan is running 100% of the time. The clock runs fast, it can't use my external monitor (can only get it to use a small piece of the monitor), etc. It's just been a nightmare. I am about to send it back for a second fixing which means it will be gone for at least another 3 weeks. I ended up buying a ThinkPad since I can't work if my computer is gone for months at a time. Worst $1600 I've ever spent.
Not only that, but they lied to me the first time I sent it in for repairs right after I bought it. They told me they would extend the 30 day return policy from the time I got it back, but when I got it back they wouldn't let me return it since it was past the original 30 days. They even have it explicitly stated on my customer record, but they won't live up to it.
Why do they put people through such nightmares?

That depends what you're using it for. Alienware is made mostly for games, and if that's the case with yours, you'd be better off with a desktop.
