Turion or Athon?
For example a intel dule core 4 ghz = amd atholon x2 4000+ but how dose a turion compare to atholon
Please help me is not too brigzht.
Answers:
The Turion X 2 is the AMD top of the line.
Actually, by clock speed alone, an Intel dual core 4 GHz is NOT equal to an AMD Athlon X2 4000+. The AMD Athlon X2 4200+ has a clock speed of 2.4 GHz. That's not to say that the Intel is faster, just that it can process each instruction faster. AMD uses a larger Level 1 and Level 2 memory caches to dramatically improve perceived speeds. In most speed tests, the AMD Athlon X2 4000+ does outperform the Intel dual core 4 GHz.
The Turion line of processors from AMD are designed to use less power and emit less heat during operation than their Athlon cousins, thus making them ideal for laptops. They are similar in specs to the Pentium M series (M for mobile) as far as the power consumption and the heat emission.
I would check some benchmarks on each chip.
A Turion 64 x2 Mobile TL-56 has a score of 695
An Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4000 + has a score of 848
I don't think Intel makes a Core2 Duo chip running at 4 GHz yet, but an Intel Core2 X6800 2.93GHz has a score of 1768
