It depends on what do u need it for. Dell is better one but Acer and Gateways are good. Don't get any toshiba ones their hardware durability is not better. If you go with dell make sure to look for the coupon codes also. you can google the coupon codes for dell and get better deals through it.
I say Macs because they are virus-free and you never have to worry about buying the anti-virus software every again!! MacBooks are the best consumer-friendly laptops from Apple. I really recommend getting a Mac. PCs just aren't reliable and stable.
If someone says dell one more time i'll slap them.. DeLL sucks! their hardwares always go back and their support is routed to india with people named tim and Erick like you are suppose to believe because of their names they reside in america... that always cracks me up.
DeLL motherboards always go bad and not to mention the battery life. I would know, i fix them all the time. For the price of the computer, hell yeah its a nice computer but who wants to put up with all the headaches?
If you want a descent computer, think Apple or HP.. Gateways are getting better but IBM stands a beast as corporations stick with them and their customer service is superb. Apples are making their name nowadays as their product works well and barely ever fails but their software is closed source so you have to purchase it from them.
Right now because most laptops come with vista, i would recommend a mac as vista has its issues still and most software dont work on it and it just so happens to be the really good ones too. So get yourself a mac until vista proves its reliable.. dont listen to these basic users who pay $200 for someone to look at their computer haha.. unreal!
I would say HP.. Because I have an HP computer and an HP laptop.. and I don't know if other electronic brands have this but HP has the recovery program so whenever your computer or laptop is infected with nasty viruses/spywares, what you do is call the HP or your local technician and follow their orders.. Since your laptop does have a recovery system, it will be like having a brand new laptop!
I say a MacBookPro because macs are the best comp. on the planet and i have one and its super great! good luck choosing.
dell or gateway,no doubt,i amvery happy with mine,both have great support,lots od folks may not agree with me,every one has their own idea,which is fine,but i am giving youadvice on the ones i have been running 5 years,have 2 m520 gateway desktop replacement laptops,a nx570 laptop and the powerful dell,not the first problem at all with any of them good luck

Dell is only good if you buy an expensive one, say over $1000, otherwise your warranty will become useless rather quickly.
