PC or MAC?

If you see yourself as an individual, get a mac. if you prefer to follow the crowd get a PC. You can run windows software on your Mac, although why you'd want to is beyond me. Admittedly there aren't many games, but that should only bother the kiddies. I switched to Mac 2 years ago after having had PCs for a few years and I have never, not once regretted it. The OS is far more stable, you don't need to worry about viruses and at the end of the day when I've shut it down, it still looks fabulous on my desk.
The reason I think that the whole thing just works is that the software on a Mac appears to be designed to work together and it is largely very intuitive to master. Not only that, most of the applications mask very powerful software with an easy to use and attractive interface.
I think flattery is the highest form of compliment and if you take one look at MS Windows Vista you'll see what I'm talking about. The only difference is that Vista is out-dated and rubbish.
As for price, people say Macs are expensive but I just helped a friend buy a computer. We looked at Dell and what started off as a £450 system ended up costing nearly £700 by the time we had added all the basic gear and software that was missing. For a couple of quid more, she got an awesome, stunning IMac Intel 2.0GHz with everything she needed built in.

I prefer MAC. Others do not. Usually when you use a MAC, you are converted.

Basically PC's are generally cheaper, if you plan to use the operating system that comes with the system, then mac is for you...
I'd get a laptop PC and run Sabayon Linux which is free.
Well, first off, I was in the same dilemma you're in. I was looking for a new laptop and my original plan was to get a PC. But, I stumbled upon Macs and instantly fell in love with the MacBook Pro. Now, I have a MacBook Pro and I couldn't be happier. Dude, I say go for it. The MacBook Pro is an awesome choice because it's thin and light and it can go wherever you want to take it. Macs are just the best computers out there because they can handle all your music, photos, and videos very easily. You make a great pick!! I hope you enjoy your MacBook Pro!!
Top rated laptop is a MacBook Pro. And you get to be worry free, no viruses, malware, etc.

PC! the pc market is over 90% market share. the bulk of software is made for the PC market and not the mac. Most of the business world uses a PC and not a Mac.
Macs market share in the USA is a whopping 5.04% for the 2nd quarter of 2007, worldwide their market share is 2.94%.

Mac is a great machine, but just doesn't have the following in the real world yet.

i have a macbook pro. it does not get viruses. its nice not to think about installing anti-virus software. now that apple switched to the x86 platform u can now run windows on macs. there is no reason y u should not get a mac. there are a lot of windows fanboys that talk crap about macs b/c they never tried it. macs are vastly superior to a windows pc.

It is really down to personal preference. I personally like both the Mac and the PC.
If you are happy with the look, use and feel of the Macbook then go for it!! There is no right or wrong here. Its down to what makes you happy.
Mac all the way! Especially OS X and Leopard soon to be released - you'll find it so much easier to use and better looking and more features!
I bought my first Mac earlier this year without ever using one before! I'm a computer engineer (unfortunately for all things Windows) and I was Microsoft all the way until after a month in the job I hated Windows so much that I went straight to Mac!
Take a look around the Apple website for details about OS X - and the '10 reasons to buy a Mac' bit, all of those things are spot on! Plus the adverts are quality!
Even if you do still go PC - don't get Vista - it's an absolute waste of time. If you've got any more questions message me - the transition is so easy it's nothing to worry about - once you go Mac ya won't go back!
PC! Mac has a very low potential, when a PC has a very magnificent GUI and PGI. Trust me, PC is the one to go with! Have fun!
While working with many programs I've had to use a mac and pc. All in all I find the pc to be more easy to use. As for no virus' and smooth running for the mac. Thats a load of bull. We have a top of the line mac in our school and I really don't care for it. Our pc's run circles around it.I'm okay working on macs, but i really don't care for them
If you have the cash and you're not fussed about gaming then go for the mac everytime, they hold their value much better and will not become obsolete nearly as soon as the equivalent (cheaper) PC.
You would be wise to splash out on an extended warranty or applecare though, some of the more recent hardware has had problems and you don't want a machine that packs up a year and a day after you bought it.

Go with the MacBook Pro.
If you take a PC with the same chipset (NOT Celeron, but a Core Duo) , same type of graphics card, hard drive, RAM and screen size you will have the same price if not higher on the PC.
Sure you can compare it to a cheap dell laptop that goes for $500, but the MacBook pro will blow it out of the water in every way.
PC people have the misconception that Macs are expensive, but they are not and they do everything a PC can do and even better.
You can configure a Mac on a PC network faster than a windoze box. You don't need extra drivers for printers, unless your printer is 5 years or older. You can get all the same software and games.
Finally, Apple is running a multi-billion dollar company on Macs, they must be doing something right. Macs aren't just for graphics anymore, they're an all around better computer than any windoze box you'll ever buy.

This is really just a matter of opinion.
Everybody has a different preferance because they both have some things better than the other.
PC's may be depicted as more formal allthough getting games and software for MAC's is very hard and in some cases expensive.
Although MAC's are much faster so for downloads and arty-farty stuff this is much better.
MAC's are more confusing with more options and buttons where as PC's are more simple and easy to use.
As an avid Mac fan I would say 'go for it', as I tell all my friends, who have come to me asking if they should buy a mac. But I always give a word of warning. If this is your first mac, then you will fall in love with the really cool operating system, and all the amazing features of the macbook pro. However you may also be disappointed when you find you cant initially play some of your PC games and software. As you probably know, windows software doesn't run on a mac (which I think is a great thing), there are either separate mac versions of the software, or an equivalent to be found (however occasionally there just isn't an equivalent e.g some windows live features). However you can now (if u really really want) run windows on a mac quite easily, and use both mac and windows software simultaneously. There are 2 ways of doing this, and a 3rd programme has just been released, allowing another way of doing it.
Anyway, that's one point to consider. But I really would urge you to buy one. You wont regret it!!

I use both extensively...I own a PC and a mac...plus I use 25 mac books in my classroom as a teacher...
At one time maybe there was some cool things you could do with a mac that you couldn't do with a PC, but those days are over...yes, yes, macs don't get viruses, BUT with the mac you often get the "the spinning beach ball of death"
And, there are many things you can NOT do with a mac. Try doing real estate on a mac...You CAN NOT! MLS doesn't run on a mac.
Go into any business that uses macs and you are bound to see something in EVERY one of those offices...yes, that's right... a PC.
My entire county is run on macs, but in every secretary's office, in every guidance office there is a PC...why, because they can't do everything they want to with their mac.

Every friend I've known who has owned a mac has had problems... Though I'm not sure about the new ones. Personally, I've always had PCs and for the most part been problem free (well, all the problems I've had were my own fault).
It depends what you want it for. A PC is good for getting your work things done. However PCs tend to cost a lot and come poorly built. A mac on the other hand is a powerful gaming computer and the latest mac version includes windows boot camp which allows you to run anything that'll run on windows. Do some light research into it. It's nothing too complicated.
I don't know what country the people talking about CHEAP Mac's are from it obviously isn't the UK.
Why not go for the cheapest and best option buy an decent Intel chipset Core Duo Machine and load the Mac O/S on it, that way you get the SAME hardware and operating system without the extra (High) cost of a Macintosh badge, and the subsequent RIP-OFF off only being able to have it serviced at authorised Mac service centres with Mac price parts . EG. replacement DVDR for G4 (re-badged pioneer 109) from Macintosh £280, from local retailer £30 (max)
