How much hard drive do I need?

I'm a student so I do school related work, I play games like Sims2 or counterstrike, and I watch movies.

120 GB or 160 GB

It's an extra $70 between the two and I don't want to spend the $70 unless I need it

Answers:
First of all, it shouldn't be an extra $70 between the two. That's too much per gigabyte. Go with the cheaper one. You can always add another drive later (or if this is a laptop, you can get an additional external USB drive).

Hard drives are cheap, and you're not going to notice much difference between the 120 and the 160 - definitely not $70 worth of difference anyway! Right now, most people pay about 60ยข per gig.
It has been my experience that if you don't go for the bigger one now... you will be regreting it down the road.
eventually you will need it...
just my opinion
120 GB is usually plenty. The thing you will want to be most concerned about is RAM.
Tell U what sweetheart you get a 250Gb drive from Ebay and you'll never want anything else again!
You dont, just get an external if you ever need more storage. Keep in mind that you can fit like 50000 songs on that drive...
I store the same as you, and play the same games (TS2) and 120GN harddrive is more than enough believe me XD
anything over 80 should be fine unless you are downloading heavy video, music, etc.. files. By time you fill it up it will be time for a new PC anyway.
120 is fine just don't overload with games just choose your favs and then use rest for school. HD is not going to read full 120 more like 107, so use accordingly.
120 is fine. You can probably fit like 60 games on it or like, an uncountable number of music files, and stuff like that. I wouldn't waste the money on the extra space. Unless, of, course, you're already spending like $2000, then you can go the extra 70
120 is fine, but I too believe the rule of thumb "Bigger is ALWAYS better"
120 is perfectly fine. it would take a very very long time to fill that up. Years in fact. I only have 80 gig and I do all the same things and still have plenty of room.
160 GB would be the best bet if you have a lot of other stuff like video files, music, and lots of programs.
You dont need to. 120 gigs will be more than enough.Besides the 70 dollar difference is way out of line You can add another 160 gig hard drive if you ever need it and have 280 gigs for 30 dollars less !
120GB is good enough. sims2 and cs would take only small part of the hard disk. each the most would take 2GB each. What is 4GB to 120GB? It is nothing. You can always burn non changeable like movies into DvD disc as you don't need them in your hard disk all the time. Don't need to keep those dead data in your hard disk. $70 for extra 40GB is expensive. In Singapore the price gab is not that big. We can get it under SGD 40 for a good one. Save that $70 for your beauty. By the time you need more space will be the time to get a new system.
Personally I would go ahead and invest in the larger hard drive. You never know when you will need the extra space.
