I have had an acer aspire desktop for 6 months now. I have been having hardware problems for 2 weeks. The computer will shut on and off and give me the dreaded blue screen of death. I did everything possible to correct it myself, and now acer has to have it sent back to them(which comes out of my pocket) then I am going to have to wait at least 6weeks to get it back. More likely longer than that. While this is not going to happen to everyone, I just wanted to share my experience. On the other hand, I purchased mine through best buy, The Aspire received a red dot award in 2006, and from some of the forums I found on the internet, it seems to be an overall good computer. If you are going to get the Acer, try to find out about the warranty set up on it, Try to get something with in home service or in-store service close to where you live. Looking back on it, I wish I had.
It'll work, but stay clear of Intel mobo's
They are cheaply made and melt and have major problems
I don't know how much money you are planning to spend, but my suggestion is to get a TABLET PC instead, you can use it as a laptop and you can fold the screen and use pen ( come with it) to write on the screen, believe me or not, it is very convenient and this guy has the most convenient price on the Net.http://www.laptopauthority.com/...
PS: comes with special pen, you can not use any pen that you want.
good luck.
Uhm, your link doesn't really work, but I have an rather cheap Acer Laptop, and I can share my experiences. Wait, never mind, your link works, tons of ram, pretty good CPU, but the video card is rather poor, so you can play some games, but old ones. Now, Acer laptops. I have an Aspire 3620, it sucks. The paint at the hinges started to crack, the computer LAGS its self down so it can be cooled properly which is extremely annoying when you're playing games. I was playing CS (really old game) and after playing for 10minutes, the whIole thing lags to 1 frame per second, and then speeds back up again! I've heard lots of good things about Lenovo Thinkpads, check them out?
