I'm a software developer looking to get a new laptop. I'm already waiting on a MacBook Pro (MBP) to come in within the next week or so. I do plan on putting Windows Vista on it using Boot Camp so I can still develop for Windows. I'm curious on whether the MBP will survive, say, 4 to 5 years before I have to get another laptop.
My previous laptop was a Gateway M320X, which gave out after just barely 3 years of service...

I'm still using my PowerBook G4 after three years, and it's doing fine.
As long as you take good care of it, it should late quite a long time.
Hey, i'll buy one to, i think it'll last you, because it's made of plane aluminum. very scratch resistant. And you can get Apple Care.
