I'm selling my laptop, is $580 too much?

I paid about $980.00 for it about 2 months ago, I need to sell it becuase I want to buy another one, it looks practivally new because didn't used it a lot, it's a Gateway Notebook with Intel Centrino Core Duo, 1.6 Ghz, 1 GB DDR Ram, 15.4" Ultrabright monitor, DVD RW, 4 memory card ready, Wireless Internet Ready, it has Windows Vista home premium, some people told me that I'm asking for too much, but I see them selling for $700 or $800 brand new, it doesn't have any scratches, I think it's a pretty decent price, what do you think?? How much would you sell it for?? thanks.

Answers:
$580 is not enough who did you ask because it has alot of memory and nice software and with internet ready you should ask for $650 - $699 because that computer has good performance and durability.
the price is actually very ok. you can also check ebay for sum price comparison, but i'd buy it if i would need one :)
Sounds like a fair price to me. Just be willing to haggle a little, so if you get an offer of say $540 - $550, you'll both be happy.
Whatever your market will be willing to pay. Be flexible. If you find a serious buyer be willing to negotiate if you have to to sell it fast. Technology as you know flies. Don't sit on it. 2nd hand is a risk. Always. Though it will have a warranty, all original packaging and receipt of purchase. You may have to go to $500 if they are going for $700 now. It's irrelevant what you paid for the laptop. Advertise as best offer before a specified date and negotiate from there. Get them on the phone and having the laptop in their hand. Find out who your buyers are first then determine what they are willing to pay. Take care,

Jen
580 isn't a bad price on that, assuming it looks good and has had no problems.

That's nearly 40% off new value, which is how I would advertise it. Use: 40% off. People tend to like that 40% off number.

Otherwise, for being a used computer, and not exactly an excellent computer by modern standards, it might have a hard time attracting someone. But, eventually I bet someone would pay that, for your system. It's not a bad deal, you just have to find the guy who wants a simple system, for a decent price.
