HELP!! My dvd drive wont play dvds because it says it needs codecs?

You need to either install the Klite Codec Pack (Standard) or the Divx Codec. The Divx pack only contains the codec for Divx (avi) but the Klite Codec has more codecs.

i would stay away from k-lite codecs just for the simple fact its a huge package that wich half you'll never use and should you install any other codec you'll just have problems. the xvid codecs is for any and all avi files. the dvix codec is basically the same thing but will enable you to play dvix format vids..
dvix and xvid are the most downloaded codecs on the internet.
windows media player is supposed to be able to play AVI however as with all microsoft products it sux and does not do the job properly.
Try Gom Player I use it and install it on all my clients computers.
