How do you tranfer Microsoft Word files to a lap top from a desktop?

Answers:
Well there is a device called a flash drive. It is very small and fits in a USB port. they are not expensive either if you were getting the smaller sized ones. I got a 1GB, which is pretty big fr $20. All you have to do is insert the flash drive, then go to my computer and double click it. Then you can right-click your word document and press copy. Then press paste in the flash drive folder. It might seem complicated, but it is not at all.
Email them to yourself/the other computer.
or
Put them on a thumb/usb drive
or
Burn them to CD
or
Use sharing on a home network
or
Upload them to a website, and them download them.
You can send them as attachments to yourself in e-mail, then just download the attachment to your laptop, or you can get a Flash Drive (google search) and buy, then you can use that to transfer files. Make sure that your laptop has Microsoft Word, or an application like it, like openoffice. http://www.openoffice.org/
Several options, the best being email them to yourself or use a USB key. You can look into getting a home network setup, but unless this transfer is going to be a recurring theme, it'll be faster to just go the email/usb key route.
You can email them or you can get an ethernet cable (reversed) and transfer that way.
use removable media: memory stick - usb flash disk, etc..

insert removable media to laptop, copy the files you want to the removable media.

eject PROPERLY the removable media from your laptop and insert it into your desktop pc.

copy the files.

goodluck! :)
copy the files to a usb flash disk then insert it to your desktop and copy again.
If you mean documents that you have typed you can put them on a thumb drive, a cd-r, or any other removable media. If you mean the installation of the program then you'll need the Microsoft Office CD.

If you do not have the microsoft office CD and still want to be able to create, edit, and view office files I recommend the open source alternative, OpenOffice. It allows you to do anything microsoft office does and it is free and an excellent product.
well you can always use a flash drive to do it...
but if you dont want to spend $20-$50 on one, then u can send it over the internet
to do that, you have to first know where all your files are stored in...
then go to your e-mail and click "compose"
click "attatch files" and then "browse" next to the blank box
it should go to the last opened folder that you saved...
once you have attatched the files, send it to your e-mail...
it is possible to send an e-mail to yourself so you should do it

all you have to do now is to open up your laptop and open up your e-mail
after you open it, jus download tha files and there you go!

if you dont have a LAN network around your house and you're wondering how to get internet acess to your laptop in order to open up the e-mail, you can always take the ethernet cable out from the back of you desktop (it should be towards the bottom and it looks like a phone line. the line should be either yellow or grey) take it out and the hook it to the back of your laptop
now you have internet acess to your laptop

if all fails, you can use a blank CD to transfer your data

if you need to know how to use a blank CD to transfer data or if you have a flash drive but dont know how to use it, or you're having trouble sending the e-mail, send me an e-mail at amosus700@yahoo.com or make me as best answer and post the question in the comment box

hope this helps!!
