My laptops USB ports dont work. HELP.?

You didn't mention what OS you are using. WinXP (or above) normally can use these devices as Plug and Play (i.e. AS 'mass storage device'), without any driver needed.
Your USB port is working (because it gives message once you plug something on it) but you don't have drivers for digital camera or cell phone, that's why the message (If no message at all when you plug it, then your USB ports have the problem).
If your digital camera/cell phone are "LATEST", they can communicate with your laptop without problem (as mass storage device only). For example, once pc connected to N73, it will popup on your mobile if you want to use it as 'mass storage device'. Same is true with your digital camera.
If you want to use it other than as mass storage device, then you need the accompanying cd with your digital camera or cell phone. If you don't have, then search it from Internet like 'N73 driver download'.
Maybe be u just need to clean it thats wat happen to mine u can purchase a usb cleaner at ur local radio shcak or best buy or electronic store its pretty cheap actualy and it works very good try it out it helped me!! and it will help u too!!
Try updating your drivers for your motherboard, also the BIOS and USB drivers.
