OVERHEATING Laptop keeps shuting down! HELP!?!?

I own a compaq presario 700 notebook.

When I run applications that use proccessing power, i hear the fan start going full speed, then the mouse and keyboard stop working. Then the computer shuts down (instantly)

It sounds like the proccessor is overheating and the computer shuts to prevent damage.

How can I stop my precisious laptop from shuting down/ or overheating??

Thx

Answers:
place the laptop on a table when you useit and never one on your laptop or bed or any kind of clothtry that if its still over heating you may need to replace the fans
you might have a dirty computer or a fan that could be going bad. firt try cleaning the laptop. buy a air can and blow the air thru the vents where the fan is at, try and see if this helps, sometimes the fans goes bad and you have to replace it.
good luck
you need to get a laptop fan that goes under the laptop and stops it from over heating and it plus into the USB you can get one at wal mart
