Notebook hard drive question?

I have a 200gb hard drive in my computer, but I also have a 5gb in the computer to, why did the manufacturer put this in?

Answers:
I'm going to guess that this is a 200GB drive partitioned into two separate drives.

Most laptop manufacturers take a small section of your hard drive, partition it off from the rest, and install your recovery software there. That way, if the laptop should experience OS loss or worse, you will likely be able to at least reinstall Windows (or your original OS, whatever it is) without sending it back.

Plus, it's cheaper than giving you a DVD with the restore programs.
