Hi Dear friends I want to buy a notebook. would you prefer Dell or Vaio brands with the same configurations?

I hate to say it, but I'd go with Dell at this point. I've been a Sony VAIO junkie for almost five years, even to the point of importing some Japan-only models.
Sony is _notorious_ for using non-standard hardware and drivers. Maintenance and repair on the Dell, while still abhorrently expensive and difficult, will be easier and more affordable than the VAIO.
OTOH, the only time I've had a VAIO _break_ is when I dropped my U101 ( http://www.werkema.com/laptop.html... ) on a concrete floor. Otherwise it's just driver hassles and overall crankiness.

well I wud say go for Sony..
because I have a DELL and I am regretting as they have poor customer support and they are pretty heavy then Sony...
Vaio is any day better
The Dell inspiron in a durable alloy case is tops in price and options.
