Laptop really slow?
Answers:
first, how much ram are you running? YOu would need at least 2gigs. Second, do you have a dedicated video card in that laptop? Or, is is integrated and using your system memory to operate?
Lastly, uninstall all of the crapware that came on it (like norton trial, adobe acrobat pro trial, office 2007 trial...stuff like that)
If you have 2 gigs of ram.you can get by with an integrated card because the system memory pool is large enough to compensate.
Oh, turn off the sidebar too, that takes a while to load up. Perhaps even turn off aero.

I need to know the company your laptop is made by and what laptop you bought, in order to help you.
Most of the time it's that people bought Vista with 1 GB of RAM and that's what makes it slow, if you have 2 GB it's probably because of all the ADWARE the laptop company sticks in there... E-mail me and I'll point you to a website that will help.
For example, my IBM had 90 processes (took about 3 minutes to turn on) when it first opened, I had to uninstall soo much stuff to make it go down to at least 60 so that it can turn on faster ( now it's 1 minute)
that's way to long take the laptop back to where yo bought it and demand your money back
