Can a laptop's graphics card (if there is any) / chipset be upgraded?
Answers:
Majority of laptops, the answer is no as the graphics card was integrated onto the motherboard (if that's the case then it's replacing the whole MB). However there is a new standard being release where you can change a laptop's GC. The two GC company's use different versions/standards, but in essence they do the same thing: nVidia uses: MXM and ATi uses: Axiom
Laptops that will be released/are released with either of these 2 standards will be as upgradable, when it comes to graphic cards, as their counterpart: the desktop PC.
Hope this helps
most of the time no .. laptop graphics are usually integrated onto the motherboard ... if they are modular its generally too expensive to send it in for an upgrade ...
No, it is so hard to find a card that specifically fits if it can even except one.
No. Laptop video cards are built in. That is there isn't an actually separate video card. The video processor and it's memory (if it isn't sharing system memory) are on the motherboard.
no
they are soldered to the mobo
and generally nothing except the ram is upgradeable
Most cannot But i am currently selling laptops that can, for example, the following link will take you to one that can upgrade., http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/ebayisapi.dll?vie...
These laptops has pci-e video cards but has mxm IV technology which is compadable with newer video cards, which is why the above laptop can upgrade to things like the 8800gtx video card once released for laptops.
