What would be the best Notebook for a College student?
Answers:
If you don't want to lug around notebooks buy a tablet. You can take notes with it in class and you never need burrow a pen from other people. Later in your dorm you can print out the notes you took. Thats what I did. My has Core 2 Duo, 2 GB of RAM, and decent graphics card. I would recommend the IBM X61T or Fujitsu's T4220.
Apple macbook sounds perfect for your needs. I would suggest the 2.0 GHz model, it's very affordable and great for school. It's very portable, at about 5 lbs and it's pretty thin. It has a 2 core processor like you mentioned, and it's graphics are a little better than decent. Not good enough for serious gaming, though. I use mine for school and there's a ton of free and helpful applications you can use! Just google "free mac apps" and you'll get enough options.
I'm not sure you really need to spend that much, unless money is no object. I'd compare the Sony to a similar HP or Lenovo or Toshiba laptop.
I'd start by figuring out what features are important: size, weight, display size, battery life, etc. Sound like gaming might be important so go the website of your favorite game and check out the Minimum Systems Requirements to figure out what hardware and software is needed to support the games you want to play.
I'd also look hard at the budget to really figure out how much you want to spend. Once you have done the above you should be able to purchase a laptop to meet your college computing needs.
The brand isnt as important as the hardware for you, but you really cant go wrong with an HP or Dell because as a college student you are bound to have computer issues and they have excellent costumer service. As for hardware, this is what you need minimum. 2.0+ ghz processor (Core 2Duo), 2 GB RAM, a better than onboard video card, and a hard drive of at least 120 gb
OooH! good question...i was wondering the same thing too!! :)
