Can someone tell me how to remove and install an internal hard drive for my laptop?

I want to install it on my own. I know the HDD itself is quite inexpensive, but I am afraid that the people who fix it for me might charge a bomb.

I want to change my 40 GB HDD to 80 GB HDD. Most probably I'll get Maxtor/ Seagate or Western Digital.

How about a video, the trick is to take out the entire cage and than the HD itself;

first you better hope the BIOS will support it
keep in mind laptops use a stripped down version of a BIOS since the needs of the laptops are much simpler
sometimes you can do the swap, sometimes you can't
physically it easy to swap out a hard drive, you open the laptop up ( they are small screws here and there )
pull the drive out
note any jumper settings ( should be master in any case for the new boot able drive )
reinstall
close up the laptop
and reboot to the CD to format the drive and install the OS
That can be anything from taking out 1 screw on a Toughbook to taking out a hundred tiny screws on a Macbook.
