Question about writing in 'Word'- my typing has turned red.?
Answers:
Hi,
It might be track changes, somehow you have clicked it, so all your words are now appearing as comments, are you also getting a red vertical line down the LH side. If so, it may be that. You would also see some more buttons on your toolbar that look like yellow post-it notes.
If it is track changes, to undo it go to Tools, Track Changes and click Track Changes or the icon with notepad to un-select it.
It also might be Default now. To undo this, open a new Word document and see if you can type in black. Then select Format and Font. At the bottom of the open box, you will see a button called Default. Click and it and when it asks you if you want to make all yours default click ok / yes.
Then try opening your original document.
Other than that, can't think what it could be, sorry
highlight the text first and then click black
try going in the word sttings it might have something in there
You've got "check spelling as you type" turned on. Go to Tools Option and Spelling and Grammar and uncheck the box.
There will be a letter A in red somewhere on the page click on it and choose the colour you want the text to be.
Ctrl U will take off and put the underline on any highlighted text.
Hope this helps.
Highlight the text you want to change by holding down left click and dragging your pointer over the text.
Press ctrl u
Then go to your colors on the top right of the screen and change the color to black.
Click on an empty portion of text field and continue typing.
Change the settings in format menu font option.
First press Ctrl + A then press Ctrl + U then go to the top and select the color black
You accidentally turned on Track Changes. Hit Ctrl-Shift-E to turn off.
Look in the top right hand corner. There should be a letter A highlighted in Red. Click on this and it will give you options to change.
Highlight The Text And Then Click On Colour And Change To Automatic
The document must have been saved like that so it will keep typing in red. go to file select all then go to colour tab select black then go to underline button they sould dissapear then save it should then be ok.
That sounds like you've activated Track Changes. Here's how to get rid of it. (This works in Word XP (2002) and probably the adjacent versions (2000 and 2003), but I'm not sure if you have one of those versions. If you have 2007, I'm not sure how you find the menu item, because Office 2007 replaced menus with the Ribbon.)
1. Right-click anywhere on the menu area.
2. Look for the Reviewing menu in the list. It should be selected.
3. Click it to see which toolbar disappears, then click it again to bring it back.
4. Close the menu. Near the right-end of the Reviewing toolbar there should be a button that looks like a page with red lines on it (surprise!). It should look selected, and if you hover your cursor over it, it should say Track Changes.
5. Deselect it.
That should turn off the feature. Now to get the red out.
1. Also on the Reviewing toolbar there's a button that has a check mark. Hovering the cursor over it should bring up the name "Accept Change". Click the down arrow next to it and select "Accept All Changes In Document" from the list.
That should do it.
Good luck.
