Can you trade in a new Dell, for another of their products?

Okay, a friend asked me to ask this for him.

He bought a new Dell computer (at Wal-Mart) abt 2 months ago. He is not really all that computer literate, so having also been really busy, he has pretty much not even got on there and done much yet.

I went over and helped him get his internet connection going, etc., but since then, he has not really done anything. We saved a couple of files on there too, but that is all that is on there, like 2 files!

So, the question is, his situation has changed recently and he finds himself needing a notebook computer instead, because he needs it for his new job (not provided by the company). But he will be travelling quite a bit and he needs a notebook and wants me to show him how to use it.

Anyway, he wondered if since this other one is pretty much not even used, if it could be traded back in through Dell for basically a credit or whatever, so he could get a notebook through them - realizing that the notebook would probably cost a bit more.

Answers:
Yes dell has a trade in program, and depending on how long he has had it they will give him a refund on that one and use the credit from it towards a laptop. I purchased a desktop from walmart when they first started selling them for a customer of mine, and they were not happy with it and they brought it in to me and I called dell and they gave a full refund for it and it was three weeks old.
