When i use my laptop, only a poriton of my full screen is used, the rest is all black. how can i fix it?

i have tried going to properties but it is like locked when i tried to change the dimensions. how can i fix that.

Try changing the resolution of the screen, right click on the desktop and choose properties. set the resolution lower
Update the graphics drivers from your laptop manufacturer's website.

After updating, try again.
Is this during normal use or DVD playback?

If you cannot change the settings it might be because you do not have the correct display drivers installed.

You should have gotten a disk with your computer with the drivers on it? Or else they are in a folder on your C:

If you don't have either of these go to the website of your computer maker and search for drivers to download.

installed the graphics driver and hopefully this should solve that issue,
