I generally don't go to Walmart for any computer stuff at all, but Walmart sells the Acer 5100 and the "big brother" model to it. I bought one myself as I wanted a good cheap, reliable laptop.
I must say, I am moderatly impressed with Acer. They weren't known for very good stuff years back, but they have really stepped up their game quite a bit, and I'm impressed by this machine. Does everything I want it to do and it's fast. Go to Walmart.com, or Acer and look up the specs on the machines.

I say get a MacBook Pro. But, the only drawback is the $2000 price tag but, not to worry, the Apple store has a student discount for college students like you. With the discount, it's about $1800. Even though that may sound a lot, it's not, if you compare it to similarly priced PC machine. Plus, it has a lot of extra features that will beat any PC computer! Also, this computer was designed with people like you, it's portable and thin and light. It has bluetooth and wifi and that next-generation draft-N wireless thing so, that's good. It's very fast with it's Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz processor and 2GB RAM and 120GB hard drive. You can also play games on it with it's Nvida graphics card. It truely the fastest Mac laptop.
There is only one computer company that makes a perfect computer for you and thats Apple. They make the Mac OS which is perfect. It runs extremely fast, it has iPhoto for your pictures, and iTunes for your music, and all macs come with WiFi, and bluetooth. Mac the Switch Get a Mac there easily the best! Plus if you want a Macbook you can get one for $900 with a free $200 iPod Nano and a free $100 all in one Printer! That makes the laptop $600 and thats easily the best deal out there!
