HP celeron laptop 1.7GHZ--any good?

It depends on what you use it for. If it's just for word processing or Internet use, then it'll be just fine. If you want something for gaming, video editing, etc...then, no, it'll be too slow.

not bad if you are watching movies and sending e-mail's but as for gaming it is fairly weak.
i am using a celeron m 1.73 i use it for downloading music and downloading movies also try and get 512MB ram dd2 and 80GB+that's what mines got...you cant game with it but u can do all BASICs like word e-mail etc,i link it to my LCD TV and goes to 1600x12000 but my TV is 1920x1080 SO on board graphics are OK if u watch movies from you TV.Think 1movie 700MB you have 800000MB that's alot of filmes.
Yes it is an excellent budget CPU. In power and speed it equaled the core duo. It is much superior to AMD's Sempron.
