PLEASE HELP-- Whats wrong with my laptop?
Answers:
F2 for setup, you need to set your hard drive up in the system bios, there should be an autodetect feature.
i would contact whoever sold you that laptop and have them help you out immediately...do you have a warranty? it might be your hard drive..because it sounds like it wont even let you get to a normal screen.
If it isn't the BIOS like Jon said try this.
(assuming this is a windows installation)
Put your windows disc in the CD tray and reboot. When you get an alert saying "Press any key go boot from cd." press a key.
The CD will load a bunch of drivers onto your system and "boot up". From here you need to access the recovery console.
Once you are in the recovery console type "fixboot" without the quotes.
first try to get all disks or cd out of your laptop
then if this happens againe and you are not successfull on bringing up your windows
it could be a virus
or you windows might have a problem
You broke it.
It sounds like it might not be seeing the hard drive - if you have a floppy drive on your laptop with a disk in it - pop it out.
If there is a bootable CD in the drive, pop it out too.
Like the others have said I would check to see if there are any CD's or disks in my computer. If that doesn't work and if the laptop is relatively new it probably has a warranty and I would call up the manufacturer and ask them. Who made your computer?
If the computer isn't under warranty I would go into the support section of that manufacturer's website and see if I can find the answer to your problem. That being said if you're not really computer savvy it might just be best to have someone actually see what is going on to help you whether it's a friend or the computer repair person.
