Is it really important to have a webcam installed into your laptop?

It depends on if you plan to use it. You can have video chats with your friends, take pictures, record video, etc.
Some businesses actually conduct conferences in this way.
$30 for a built in webcam is pretty good. I would go for it because even if you don't need it now, you might need it eventually, and this way you don't have to hassle with installing it and what not.
They're really boring unless you have sound. Besides it's more fun actually talking to someone face to face. Don't get me wrong, it's fun to see someone especially if they are far away but, really, a webcam is just a novelty that can be done without.
I got a laptop without a webcam, and only got a webcam when I needed one. they're pretty cheap, and much easier to use than the built in ones. my bro has one on his and he cant change the angle, so depending on the height of chair and table, sometimes it misses his head completely!
If you plan on using it then get it. You can always but one later. The picture quality is usually pretty good.

it is only good if you want to chat with your friends. most of them dont give good video or picture. but hd ones do. i personally dont have one but i do watch attack of the show

They are also OK for vlogging, if that's your thing. Where do you think YouTube gets a large amount of it's material?
They are not mandatory for owning a computer.
As to the quality, that will obviously vary with the quality of the cam you purchase & it's age.
Watch a bunch of YouTube & make up your mind what you want to do with it. And for crying out loud, please, please be sure that you light your focus area properly & don't have the light shining into the camera lens. (Two very common mistakes I see on that site.) And why not decide what you want to say *before* you turn the camera on? Maybe even look at it before uploading & do a second take? Perhaps even sleep on it & then watch it again before committing yourself.
(I was only being facetious about becoming an adults-only camgirl...sorry if that was unclear.) (But they *are* invaluable for that purpose.)
if you chat more often then you have to have it rather than buying it seperately in the end. most portables nowadays have good resolution quality. however if you will not use it then dont buy it or it will be just a waste of $30 bucks in your part.
