You should (buy, install and) run a spyware decetor IMMEDIATELY, you may have virus(es), spyware, adware and/or someone in your system using you laptop for their own ends (ie a hacker). If you don't have the mentioned software, I recommend 'Spyware Terminator', google it then download it. It's a fantastic tool and works brilliantly. The first time you run it, make sure you do the full scan - everything. It takes ages but really sorts your PC/Laptop out.

you could have a bunch of adware .. or scheduled tasks even that are coming on in the background ..
Sounds like it's loading something big, under a bit of stress. Try not to have too many things running at once.
Try running a ad-ware program like ad-ware, spysweeper or similar. Then go to run and type msconfig. Look at the start-up tab and close the uncessary ones. Make sure you dont close any of the ones that says c://Windows/system or it could mess your laptop up.
Read the command of each task and format it as you wish (except the system ones)
make a restore point just in case
