I hear a lot of talk on this show about upcomming VISTA SERVICE PACK. What exactly is this. Is it an upgrade
Answers:
Typically, Microsoft releases it's software full of bugs, then puts out updates to correct those. The service pack is a compilation of several corrections. Microsoft has done this for years, back to DOS 3.0. They let the paying public do their debugging for them all the while touting how cool their new stuff is.
I personally don't use any of their products until they've been out for a year or more.
It would simply be a Windows Update file.
I have vista too. It's just a file with updates on it..simple!
its because they rushed it out it wasnt quite right yet so as it got used bugs appear that why window send an error report when it crashes these are all the fixes to known problems ,its an update
This is just one of Microsoft's repair kits for what they didn't do correctly in the first place. Don't install it immediately, wait at least about six weeks to see if others have had problems and how they (or Microsoft) got around them.
We are paying top money for Vista basic, home premium and ultimate edition, but where really beta testing Vista, the service packs are just fixes for bugs in Vista,as every time an error happens or problem arises, your computer automatically sends a report to Microsoft,Just click windows, programs, maintenance than click problem reports and solutions to see what has been sent to Microsoft.Than Microsoft use this information to find a solution and usually an update fix.
For SERVICE PACK, read PROBLEM FIXER.
It's typical that Microsoft (they're the worst offenders) release software that barely covers the basics.
You've already mentioned that you have not had 'too many problems' but you've had problems nonetheless.
This is just retrospective reprogramming of faulty software to allow certain things to work under Vista and patch the security issues that have come to light.
Ideally, Microsoft should be sued under the Trades Description Act as their product does not perform as advertised or stated.
