How long to fix a wireless card in my laptop?

I have a new window's vista hp laptop...dv6000 that I got back in Feburary and a few weeks ago I couldn't connect to the internet at all. We took it to Geek Squad where they said my wireless was missing from the device and that the wireless card is defective. Well after a WEEK of getting to Kentucky (from Michigan) it's still sitting there for almost a week waiting to be repaired...anyways...How long should it take to fix when someone actaully looks at it?

Less than 1 hour. I've personally replaced a internal wireless card on a dell computer in less than 15 minutes. The reason I'm saying 1 hour for the Geek Squad, is because well its Best Buy, and they have to drag things out. That's if they have the part at their store, and will install it. I'm not sure if they send their computers away for repair like Compusa does. In that case it would be about 2 weeks before you get your computer back.

The real question to ask here is. "was the wireless card really defective?" From your question above, you state that the laptop is fairly new. What is the chances of a wireless card going bad, in a new computer? It's pretty close to zero. When they told you that your wireless was missing from the device. I'm going to guess and say that the wireless card was showing an error in the device manager.

Probably the only thing they needed to do was install the proper driver for the wireless card. Then the card would work correctly. I'm just guessing of course. I don't have the laptop in front of me.

Or if the card wasn't showing up at all in the device manager they could have at least opened up the laptop, and re-plugged the two wires to the wireless card. To get a sure fire answer to the problem while you wait in the store.

I hope this at least helps a bit
It's just a matter of them obtaining the replacement and doing the work. Last time I turned my laptop in for warranty repair it took 3 months. It shouldn't actually take that long. The work itself could easily be done in an hour or less depending on if the wireless adapter was just an onboard chipset Nothing you can do but keep calling them till they get tired of hearing from you.
